Every day, 1 in 5 Kiwi kids go without the basics that most of us take for granted, including food, clothing, shoes, school essentials or medical and mobility equipment. This has a profound impact on their health, education and wellbeing.

Seven-year-old Holly and six-year-old Joseph love school. But their mum, Anna, dreads the start of a new school year. Holly and Joseph always outgrow their uniforms and their stationery lists seem to get longer each year. 

“Every year when the kids go back to school, I try to come up with the money for their uniforms. I am only able to buy the bare minimum. New uniforms are expensive… so I have to go for second-hand, but they don’t always fit the kids,” Anna explains. 

Anna feels helpless because she just can’t afford the essential tools her children need to return to school. With food costs at a 32-year high, parents are being forced to choose between filling their children’s lunch box and sending them to school without the uniform, stationery and digital devices they need to learn. 

We’re on a mission to ensure Kiwi kids don’t miss out on what they need to thrive. 

Proceeds from the ticket sales go to helping give Kiwi kids the essentials they need to go to school, stay healthy and take part in their community. Each ticket goes into the draw to win a Ford Escape PHEV. That’s a win-win for everyone! 

Tickets go on sale online at littlebigraffle.co.nz from 6 March 2023. Ticket sales close on 26 May 2023 or once all the tickets have sold out. Prize winner of the Ford Escape PHEV is drawn on 29 May 2023.
